Objective
Atlantek was losing market share to a competitor who made printers that were more flexible, better looking and less expensive than theirs. They asked Stream to create and assess new product directions to take their company into the next generation.

Results
Moving to a modular product architecture was essential to create a feature set that could change depending on customer needs, and reduce labor costs that were hampering productivity. Exchanging their sheet metal chassis for injection molding, however, required a cultural shift in Atlantek's thinking. We explored and arrived at a product identity that users felt was more like a consumer product, and less like an industrial one, but still used some details that retained the heritage of the original. Atlantek was purchased in 2004 by Zebra, and this product line was retained unchanged as their high end ID card printer.
